The RNVG-A, also known as ARNVG, (Articulating Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle) is an extremely tough, full featured night vision binocular.ย  The housing is billet machined from aircraft grade aluminum and designed to handle challenging real-world environments.ย  During drop testing the housings far exceeded military requirements of MIL-STD-810H drop testing, surviving falls onto bare concrete from heights beyond what lenses and image intensifiers can handle. The RNVG utilizes a single CR123A battery, but also comes with an on board auxiliary LEMO port for use with battery packs, such as the AB Night Vision Incย Ground Optimized Battery Pack.

Custom Night Vision offers the ARNVG with the following tube options:

  1. L3 Harris Filmless White Supergain
  2. L3Harris Filmless White
  3. Elbit Thin Film White
  4. Photonis Green and White
  5. NNVT White

Handpicked Option โ€“ Select this if you want Custom Night Vision to select intensifier tubes for you instead of selecting a set from our inventory. ย We will contact you (typically within 24-48 hours of placing your order) with pictures and specs of tubes we select to ask for your approval. If you have preferences on certain specs (ie: SNR, EBI etcโ€ฆ) please include those in your order notes and we will do our best to meet your goal. ย After customer tube approval the night vision unit will be ready to ship within 1 to 3 business days.

We offer Six choices of Optics:

  1. Brightpath Optics (Built to Mil Spec) – Outstanding value of high quality optics that combine ground and aviation elements; company led by Key Member of Former Qioptiq Excelitas Company. Weight: 3.8 ounces per set.
  2. Standard Mil-Spec Optics – NVD Cage Code – High quality Mil-Spec Optics (Typically Fuji). Found on most Mil-Spec PVS-14 Units. Weight: 4.5 ounces per set.
  3. Standard Mil-Spec Optics – Noctis (Formerly Carson) Cage Code – These are identical to our NVD Cage Code optics (Typically Fuji), but have the Cage Code of Noctis (Former Carson). Weight: 4.5 ounces per optic set.
  4. Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) 3.0 Ultralight – These are the most popular lightweight optic option. ย They are >45% lighter than Standard Mil-Spec Optics. Weight: 2.4 ounces per optic set.
  5. Photonis Defense Boomslang 50 Degree FOV – Lightweight 50 Degree optic system. Weight: 3.5 ounces per optic set
  6. Act in Black 50-Degree FOV – 50 degree optic system offering minimal resolution loss. Weight: 4.7 ounces per optic set.

Housing Swap Only Option โ€“ Includes prepaid label to send your existing night vision goggle, monoculars or parts to us. ย We will swap your tubes and optics to a new RNVGA including collimating and purge. ย All remaining parts will be sent back to the customer with the complete RNVGA.

The RNVG-A design includes push button switches for power and an Infrared Illuminator.ย  The IR illuminator button is guarded by a fence with distinctive contours to prevent inadvertently activating the IR illuminator.ย  Indicators in the viewing area alert the user if the IR illuminator is on, or if the unit senses a low battery condition.ย  AB Night Vision RNVG-A optics feature a full range of adjustments.ย  The mil-spec objectives allow the user to focus between 9.8 inches and infinity, while the mil-spec eyepieces offer a diopter adjustment range of -6 to +2.ย  The articulating design allows the user to quickly adjust for an Interpupillary Distance from 47mm to over 80mm.

Each optical pod can be rotated up out of the users view as desired, freeing one or both eyes for natural sight as conditions demand.ย  When the goggle is helmet mounted and in the stowed position, the optical pods can be folded back flat against the helmet to minimize neck strain and better protect the goggle, and the user, from impacting overhead objects. The optical pods automatically turn off when articulated up.ย  This feature prevents illumination on your helmet when one side is articulated up and ensures that the image intensifiers are โ€˜offโ€™ in the stowed position with the optical pods folded back against the helmet.ย  The force required to swing the optical pods is user adjustable using a coin.

The goggle is available in Flat Black and Flat Dark Earth.ย  The components of the binocular are media blasted to give a non-reflective matte finish, then black anodized for durability.ย  For the FDE option, Cerakote, a proven finish, is applied over the anodizing to give a tough, attractive finish.

    This was my second purchase through CNV. Excellent experience both times. The tubes I selected for this unit had just sold, so Ben called and texted me, sent pics of an even better set of L3 tubes, and confirmed my purchase. I felt like he took the time to select and match the best possible set. The unit was on my porch the next day. The tubes were just as advertised. They are the cleanest, sharpest tubes I have ever seen. Excellent customer service. Great YouTube videos as well. They are very transparent and knowledgeable, and it shows in their content.

    The ARNVGs are amazing. I selected RPO 3.0 optics which brings the overall weight to about 16.9 ounces. Incredible. The aluminum housing feels like a tank. I love the articulation and look. I have yet to find an environment where the automatic brightness control is a negative factor.

    I am picky about battery compartments on these types of housing. The battery tends to sit almost in between your eyes when the pods are articulated upward (especially with the 31As, 1431s, and 1531s) . For that reason I was strongly considering the DTNVS. However, when measuring and comparing housings I found that because of the overall design, the battery compartment on the ARNVG sits about 1/2in higher than on those previously mentioned. Which is only about 1/4in lower than that of the DTNVS. Long story short, the battery compartment isnโ€™t an issue at all. I donโ€™t notice it.

    I absolutely love this unit. Strongly recommend.
