Custom Night Vision | Custom Quads
In this video, we’re taking a side-by-side look at six different night vision optic systems and presenting the footage with minimal commentary so you can evaluate performance for yourself. The goal is to provide an unbiased visual comparison across several viable 40° field-of-view options currently available for monocular and binocular builds. The optics included in this comparison feature multiple configurations from RPO, the widely used Fujinon / Night Vision Devices / Carson style mil-spec systems, the newly released BrightPath, and the new Steel lightweight ruggedized optics entering the market. To keep the test as fair as possible, all optics were evaluated using the same intensifier tube from L3Harris Technologies (approximately 72 lp/mm, ~40 SNR). This ensures that tube performance does not influence the perceived differences between optics. Each setup was carefully focused using a remote monitor, with fine adjustments to diopter and objective focus to achieve the sharpest possible image. This comparison highlights differences in: Light transmission Contrast Flare suppression Center resolution Eye box characteristics Overall usability Each optic has strengths depending on user preference and application. Some favor higher light transmission, while others prioritize contrast and flare reduction. Weight and pricing considerations will also play a role in determining which system best fits your build.
