Constructed of 7075 aluminum, the RVM-14 can take whatever you throw its way. It accepts traditional j-arms and also a proprietary arm and bridge design.

Features of the RVM-14 include:

  • Manual gain control
  • On-board illuminator
  • Adjustable diopter
  • Dedicated tether points
  • CR123 power source
  • Approximately 75 hours run time

The RVM-14 can also be bridged with another RVM-14 using the purpose built AB Night Vision RVM-14 dovetail bino mount bridge. This is a versatile method of achieving a binocular night vision device which can be quickly set up and taken down.

Housing is great. Well built and lighter than my Carson housing and it’s aluminum! Love the CR123 battery type and longer battery run time than the AA. Also helps that most of my other equipment uses the same battery type (IR lights, LAM, Thermal). Word of caution though, CNV did damage my tube when they installed it into my housing. Take pics of your tube before and after you send yours in to CNV to swap housings. Take after pics right away and hold them accountable if they damage your tube.

I am using an RVM-C housing (RVM with C-mount thread compatible with many camera lenses) for my astronomical monocular. The AB housing is more compact than the NVD Micro I used previously, is very well-made and finished with smooth threads that make swapping adapters quick and nearly foolproof. it’s not cheap, but it is a quality item that works well so far and should last a very long time.
